UNL Big Data Initiative

As data sets get larger and more readily available disciplines are striving to extract meaning from every possible piece of data. “Analytics”, the art of drawing insightful conclusions from patterns in data, was the precursor to a new universe of prediction and analysis where the data sets keep getting larger, processing power keeps getting faster, and the tools to interpret raw information become more sophisticated and precise. The Big Data Initiative at UNL is an interdisciplinary group of statisticians, computational scientists, mathematicians, bioinformatics and business analytics researchers, and natural resources leaders focused on solving these problems and potentials.
