Originally from the Phillipines, he earned his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Physics from the University of the Phillipines-Diliman in 2017 before receiving his PhD in Statistics from UNL. His research interests include epidemic modeling, minority health, health disparities research, experimental design, statistical methodology, and statistical consulting.

Miguel is now an Assistant Professor at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics where he collaborates with other researchers from the UNLV School of Public Health.
