About the Department
The Department of Statistics was formed in 2003 after a merger of the Department of Biometry and the Statistics division within the Department of Math and Statistics. The Department is now part of the Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources (IANR) and is located in Hardin Hall on East Campus.
All members of the Statistics Faculty are involved in a wide range of research topics and specializations and participate in collaborative work with other units throughout the University by providing statistical consulting. Current Statistics who work with and learn from our Faculty earn practical applications of statistical principles from direct experience.
Statistics Alumni have gone on to obtain successful careers in academia, research, and private industry both in Nebraska and around the world!

Opportunities for statisticians are expected to grow rapidly in the coming years in fields ranging from biomedicine, environmental science, social science, human rights work and counterterrorism. But statisticians are needed in essentially every field, so stats skills can open the door to any passion!
