Ye was born and raised in Nanjing, China, which holds a prominent place in Chinese history and culture as the former capital. She came to the United States in 2009, joined the Department of Statistics in 2013, and received her Master's degree in statistics from UNL in 2015. Ye is interested in research in survey statistics. During her free time, she likes traveling, swimming, listening to classical music, and watching movies. She also loves dogs, because they are so loyal.
